Olav
Stig was born in Göteborg, Sweden, were he grew up with
sailing and ship building. Regatta Sailing was always
one of his biggest passions and when he was 14 years of
age he was youth champion dingy sailing. This prepared
him for one of his biggest adventures. At the age of 16,
he made his first Atlantic crossing in a 10 meter sailing
yacht which led to many years of sailing in the Tropics.
After travelling 35,000 sea miles he arrived in Holland
in his self made sailing yacht and has been there ever
since.

He
became fascinated by the Dutch flat bottom ships. Being
a foreigner these ships seemed quite exotic to him, with
their side boards, shallow draught and large sails. Never
had he seen such a thing anywhere in the world. The past
15 years Olav has participated in almost every regatta
for this kind of vessel, adding it to his already impressive
regatta experience with hi-Tec yachts at top level such
as the Admirals Cup, Fastnet Race, W.K. I.M.S. etc

However,
his first season as a skipper on the Maxima has been his
best sailing experience so far. Six months of sailing
everyday with happy and satisfied customers. Life could
not get any better for Olav!
